    • Beginning on Respect Life Sunday, the first Sunday in October, our nation’s Catholics will be called to renew their personal commitment to defend ALL human life. During the month of October, the Catholic Church in the United States observes Respect Life Month. This tradition places emphasis on protecting the most vulnerable among us and calls each of us to reaffirm our commitment to the protection of all human life from conception to natural death.

The program is a nationwide effort to help Catholics understand, value and become engaged with building a culture that cherishes every human life. The USCCB produces printed and digital tools and resources to help leaders throughout the Catholic Church integrate the “Gospel of Life” into their work or ministry. This year’s resources are now available to order through the Respect Life Program Catalog or to download from the Respect Life Program website.

The catalog and downloadable resources can be accessed here.

Past year's resources can be found on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website.

    • As Christians, our faith shapes our attitudes toward sickness and death. Support for the legalization of Physician-Assisted Suicide is a growing trend across the United States. Our country is steeped in the mindset that life is a disposable commodity; many do not see their lives as a gift from God.

In recent years five states, Oregon, Washington, California, Vermont, Colorado, and the District of Columbia have passed laws that allow for Physician-Assisted Suicide. In addition, seventeen more states are considering this legislation.

On this website, you will find information about terminal illness; palliative care, the teachings of the Catholic Church on Physician-Assisted Suicide; upholding the dignity of the dying, and legal documents regarding end-of-life directives.
