The Diocese of Erie’s Catholic Charities network of agencies, as we know it today, developed gradually over the course of decades in response to diverse human needs. Early in the 1990’s, in response to changes in the human services environment and in the diocesan leadership, the network structure of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Erie took shape.
Several existing Catholic agencies were gathered together by mutual consent, maintaining their separate names, missions, Boards of Directors, and non-profit entity status but adding a unifying level of governance.
Each agency, listed below, addresses particular needs, often in a specific geographic region of the diocese.

Currently, the agencies in the network include:
- Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie, Inc. – With their office located in Erie, this agency serves all 13 counties of the diocese, connecting those in need with local resources, providing training and education for parish and school programs, fundraising to distribute grants to other agencies in the network, and providing administrative support for the network.
- Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services, Inc. – With offices in Bradford, DuBois, and Erie this agency provides professional counseling, adoption services, refugee resettlement, and emergency assistance.
- Christ the King Manor – Located in DuBois, this continuing care retirement community provides skilled nursing, personal care, and independent living.
- Good Samaritan Center – This agency provides shelter for temporarily unhoused men in Clearfield.
- Prince of Peace Center – Located in Farrell, this agency has a thrift store and provides case management, life skills classes, and emergency assistance.
- Saint John XXIII Home – This healthcare community in Hermitage provides skilled nursing care, long-term care, rehabilitation services, and personal care.
- St. Elizabeth of Hungary Center – This food pantry and thrift store also provides emergency assistance to individuals and families in Oil City.
- St. Martin Center – This Erie social service agency provides emergency assistance, financial literacy classes, and housing and budget counseling. They also have a Keystone STARS 4-rated early learning center.
